April Pattern

These cute booties were accented with a fantastic new thread!  Finca size 16 perle cotton in the following colors: #1729 (a nice carnation pink), blanco/white, & #4379 (light mint green) I recommend using a small tatting needle with this thread.

Begin by working off the ball of color #4379. R3-6-3 Cl RW  CH3 sm- med- lg- med- sm- 3 Cl RW R3+6-3 Cl RW.  Continue working the R & CH pattern for a total of 22 Rs & 21 CHs.  At last R, tie & cut.  Hide thread ends.  * NOTE * if you have a larger size bootie, simply make more R/CHs.  The bootie I used is a newborn crib bootie.  Using the same Finca 16 color, carefully whip the edging onto the bootie.

Working off the blanco/white Finca 16 ball, R3-4-4-4-4-Cl CH 17 Cl, run needle through top of ds on far side of adjacent -.  Continue around motif.  CH 19 Cl, run needle through top of doublestitch in between previously tatted CHs. Continue around motif.  CH 5 9-s 5 Cl, run needle through previous tatting. Complete motif, tie & cat.

Working off the #1729 Finca 16 ball, run needle through and - of center R.  CH 3 7-s 3 Cl.  Run needle through next - and continue around motif.  Tie & cut. Hide ends.

Now you are ready to secure the floral motif to center toe of bootie.  I removed a bow from these and had two small holes to very secrurely attach the motif.  Please take the utmost care to secure all tatting if booties are to be worn by an infant!
